Matthew Hayes writes about black holes in The Conversation

Matthew Hayes from the Astronomy Department at Stockholm University has recently published an article in The Conversation describing a new result concerning the population of supermassive black holes in the early Universe.

"Supermassive black holes are some of the most impressive (and scary) objects in the universe – with masses around one billion times more than that of the Sun. And we know they’ve been around for a long time."

So starts Matthew Hayes new article in The Conversation, titled "There were more black holes in the early universe than we thought – new research". The article describes new research into the population of supermassive black holes present in the early Universe. Matthew Hayes and his team, including several members from the Oskar Klein Centre, used the Hubble Space Telescope to count the number density of supermassive black holes. Their result was published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters
